If there’s a Japanese salon we would unequivocally recommend for my male friends and readers, it would be The Cottage! On top of the awesome head massage, great Japanese service and convenient location, we LOVE the cool and stylish hairstyles that Ito and Hitomi design for their male customers! Ito is after all THE favourite hairstylist for many of the Japanese footballers in Singapore so you can definitely expect more from his brilliant haircuts. Prices are also reasonable given the service and location.

Ark is the person you should go to, if you want chic trendy celebrity-worthy haircuts; after all, he has cut and styled numerous male celebrities for Men’s Folio, August Men and is therefore highly familiar with the latest styles.Whether it is perm or hair colour, you know that you can leave your hair in his hands. Vast Hair Salon might be located in neighbourhood areas such as Clementi and Ang Mo Kio but their salon houses some of Singapore’s most fashion-forward and skillful hairdressers who are comparable to those working in Orchard!

Other than the vibrant hair colours that they are known for, Sze Tho and Jai (and of course the founder Xavier) are really talented at trendy men’s haircuts that are easy to manage and affordable! Many of male customers are so satisfied with their haircuts that they are willing to travel all the way from Tampines or Jurong West to get their hair cut and refreshed by them.

The great haircut and wondrous service experienced by Agent A made the experience so impressive, we really wanted to rank Kizuki+LIM higher. Unfortunately, the comparably high cost (not very sustainable for a regular men’s cut) and the lack of a orgasmic hair massage held us back. Still, this is a hair salon we would highly recommend if you don’t mind spending a few more bucks for a haircut you will definitely be happy with.

I pen this list with a precarious heart. Service levels at each hair salon differ depending on who serves you, time of day, your preferences and whether a promotion is running (and so on!). Even when reviews are good, you may still not get what you expect just as supposedly bad salons may give you a pleasant surprise.
