February 2016
Hello I’m Charlotte!
I’m pretty active on Instagram and I write occasionally on my blog as well.
A few months ago, I was fortunate enough to have my hair sponsored by Preston from The Cottage by Devonshire Selected Beauty Salons.
I like the salon a lot because the Japanese staff here are all so nice and polite, because Preston is always very straightforward and honest with me and because the salon itself is just so pretty!
I have recommended quite a few of my friends and family here and they’ve all loved the salon so far!
In the past 8 months that I’ve been with The Cottage by Devonshire Selected Beauty Salons, I’ve actually had over 10 hair colour changes (and therefore 10 bleaches!)
From someone who was wary about bleaching their hair to 10 bleaches in 8 months, I have Preston to thank for giving me these wonderful hair colours while making sure that my hair is still in relatively good condition.
Yes, it still looks like bleached hair but my hair isn’t excessively frizzy, I can run my hands through it and it still feels rather soft!
It’s a little unbelievable to me (and to my friends) that my hair can still look like that after 10 bleaches.
Some people have therefore been asking me how I manage to maintain my hair so today, I hope to bring you through what Preston usually does for me at the salon.
Step 1: Head Spa – Scalp Treatment
Preston says that healthy hair starts with healthy scalp. Especially because I bleach my hair so often, it is important to take care of the scalp to prevent hair loss problems in the future.
Therefore I get to try out the Head Spa at The Cottage which begins with a scalp treatment.
The Cottage uses natural O’Way products for their scalp treatment.
The O’Way products is a combination of both herbs and special clays and gels.
The herbs include thyme, sage and helichrysum. Thyme alleviates dandruff issues, relieve itching sensation and clears the scalp of micro organisms responsible for dandruff. Sage alleviates oily scalp by normalizing skin sebaceous functions and reactivates microcirculation while Helichrysum minimizes irritation from sensitized and reddened scalp. It is great for reducing allergies and dermatitis!
Preston can also choose between Zanthoxylum Soothing Gel, Amazonian Control Clay or Rice Wax to add to the mixture. Zanthoxylum soothing gel purifies, detoxes and promotes micro-circulation of the skin, has a smoothing function. It contains Organic Amaranth, which is rich in minerals that provide substance and radiance to hair as well as zanthoxylum which help to reduce redness and irritation of the scalp. Amazonian Control Clay absorbs excess sebum and impurities, eliminates toxins and unpleasant odors of the scalp. It contains Salvia, which normalizes skin sebaceous functions, Euphrasia, which has astringent, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and Cimicifuga which reduces irritation through its effects on cutaneous capillaries. Purifying Rice wax on the other hand minimizes scalp flaking and peeling skin caused by dry or oily dandruff as it contains antimicrobial rosemary and timo that helps to balance the scalp. All three contains teak which strengthens the structure of the hair and mahogany that invigorates the hair. The Rice Wax also helps to exfoliate the scalp gently.
Depending on my scalp condition, Preston will mix in the right ingredients for me and apply it to my scalp.
Next comes my FAVOURITE part of the hair service: Hair Massage!
I am not sure where Preston learned it from but the head massage is super shiok!
Step 2: Head Spa – Hair Treatment
The next part of the head spa is the hair treatment.
For this step, The Cottage uses Sherpa line of products from Arimino.
He starts with No. 1: Sherpa Buffer Soda
Sherpa Buffer Soda uses carbon dioxide and platinum to helps to reduce damage of scalp and hair – particularly those that has suffered damage from perms and colours!
He then follows up with No. 2: Moisture Foam.
The Moisture Foam uses CMC and erucic lactone to help my hair reestablish its lipid balance, making my bleached hair more glossy.
He then ends with the O’Way Hair Masks.
The O’way Hair Masks contains biodynamic iris (invigorates dull matte hair), organic basil (add moisture, shine and protection to hair fibres), teak (strengthen hair structure and has antibacterial properties) and mahogany (antiseptic and astringent for the skin while energizing for the hair). These ingredients help to restore protein to the hair, repairing and sealing the cuticle.
This is where the usual head spa ends.
As my hair is bleached, he uses an additional product to repair my hair even further!
Step 3: Cureplex
Cureplex is supposedly a revolutionary new product that contains amino acids and numerous active ingredients which help to create new bonds and buffers the existing bonds in hair, leading to smoother, shinier hair that is less damaged.
Preston will apply Cureplex on my hair.
To encourage absorption, my hair is wrapped and heat is then applied.
Final Steps
After a hair wash and some styling, my hair is now revitalized!
Hope you find this sharing useful!
