Looking at pictures of celebrities sporting luscious locks of permed hair often fills me up with envy. As much as I would like to go for such a hairstyle, my thinning hair (which started after I began working at 24) made it impossible for me to achieve the desired hairstyle I want.
And then… I got pregnant!
While my husband and I are both extremely happy with the news, I also realize that Pregnancy actually exacerbates hair loss.
Worried about the condition of my hair and scalp, I decided to try out an organic scalp treatment at Rise Hair Salon.
My assigned hairstylist was Teru, who was already waiting for our arrival. Smiley and polite, Teru greeted us with a bow before preparing me for my hair to be washed.
1. Hair Wash with John Masters Organic shampoo
Even though Teru looks like some sort of a Rock Star at first sight, he is actually a really gentle hairstylist! His hair wash was thorough and massage really sleep-inducing… I almost felt like I was going for a spa! As I lay there, the refreshing smell of mint filled the room… what a therapeutic feeling in the middle of a stressful week!
2. Applying John Masters Deep Scalp Purifying Serum
The relaxing hair wash with mint flavored shampoo left a pretty cool feeling on my scalp.
After escorting me back to my seat, Teru meticulously applied and massaged the cooling John Masters Deep Scalp serum onto every part of my scalp.
The John Masters Organics Hair Purifying Serum, made from spearmint, peppermint, wintergreen and meadowsweet, is particularly good for preventing and slowing hair loss as well as stimulating scalp for hair growth! By bringing the scalp back to its natural pH, it creates a better environment for the hair follicles to recover and grow.
In addition, the antibacterial wintergreen also helps to soothe headaches… no wonder I felt so relaxed when Teru was applying the serum on my scalp!
Knowing that all these natural goodness is applied to my scalp makes me feel super pampered.
3. Hair treatment with the steamer
Teru is really attentive. As you can see, he wrapped my serum-coated hair up and put a band across my forehead to avoid serum dripping down my face during the steaming process!
HELP ME, MY HEAD IS ON FIRE!!!
OK joking… this is just the steamer that Teru carefully placed over my head.
This steamer applies heat to help the serum penetrate deeper into the scalp to enhance the effect of the serum!
4. Hair Rinse
Time to wash off the serum and rinse the sweaty scalp! With Teru’s gentle hands and skillful hair massage, I was looking forward to the hair wash!
5. Application of a Second Serum
Right after the hair wash, Teru brought me back to the seat again and applied a second serum onto my hair.
This time, the serum he applied is the John Masters Deep Scalp Follicle Treatment and Volumizer for Thinning Hair.
It contains thyme, irish moss, arnica, che qian zi and gotu kola, all of which help to heal the scalp and reduce inflammation and irritation. Together, they promote healthy scalp by dissolving sebum buildup in the hair root, stimulate blood circulation and enhances hair volume, perfect for people like me who suffer from thinning hair!
6. Blow Dry
The second serum applied is a leave on serum. Therefore, Teru went on to blow dry my hair.
I always adore having my hair blown dry!
It makes me feel like a model sometimes.. hee!
7. Hair trim
Seeing that my hair shape isn’t ideal, Teru also kindly volunteered to give my stubborn hair ends a slight trim.
(He probably couldn’t stand seeing my hair messy and shapeless!)
8. Final Styling
To complete the experience, Teru did some minor styling for me.
Are you ready for the final look?
What do you think?
I really like my hair and scalp!
Thanks to Teru, I feel as if my scalp has just gotten detoxed, rejuvenated and given a new lease of life!
With a relaxing ambience, use of high quality organic products and attentive competent Japanese hairstylists, Rise Hair Salon is thus far one of my favourite hair salons… I would definitely recommend it to friends, new moms, pregnant ladies or anyone looking for healthier, organic hair services!
