Yes, we get it! Vibrant hair colours are oh-so-gorgeous to look at and you are seriously considering booking an appointment with your hairstylist to get it done.
But before do, just remember one of the major consequences of dyeing vibrant hues is that bleaching can often damage your hair and requires lots of maintenance!
For those of you who LOVE to perm and rebond your hair (and therefore can’t bleach!), here’s the list of hair colours you can consider for the festive season that DO NOT require bleaching!
1. Reds
Style NA Korean Salon @ Parkway Parade
You probably guessed it; red is one of those hair colours that don’t require bleaching.
Still, it’s an eye-catching colour just like vibrant hair colours!
If you are not entirely sure about red hair, try it with red highlights first and see if it suits you.

And for those looking for something different, the no-bleaching Reverse Red Balayage can be a unique option!
2. Pink Highlights
The Cottage by Devonshire Selected Beauty Salons
Are you as surprised as we are to find that this vibrant pink highlights by The Cottage does not require additional bleaching / pre-lightening at all?
Apparently, The Cottage has sourced a new salon hair colour product that includes some bleaching agents within the hair colour. The pink highlights can therefore be achieved WITHOUT any additional bleaching process, making the overall colour process not so damaging (and less expensive)! We don’t however recommend that you do it for the whole head as there is still some bleaching agent within the hair colour!
Do note that some bleaching agents are still involved so this may affect how well your future perms (and current permed hair) will turn out!
Remember to let your next stylist know that you’ve used this colour to prevent any perm / rebonding accidents in the future!
3. Purple Hues
Picasso Hair Studio @ Bugis Haji Lane
Another funky colour to dye your hair is purple! Unlike pastel purple, a bold shade of purple doesn’t require bleaching but still exudes class and is a head turner.
CLEO Hair & Make @ Clarke Quay The Central
There are different shades that you can go for like this lavender rose colour by CLEO Hair & Make.
Now tell us this doesn’t tempt you to dye your hair just as much as those powdery hues would!
Artica Hair Studio @ Far East Plaza
Instead of highlights or dyeing your entire hair purple, there are different ways in which you can add more dimension and movement into your hair like the combination of several techniques seen in this look – purple base with balayage ombre purple.
4. Ash Green
Artica Hair Studio @ Far East Plaza
Who would have thought green of all colours would make the list of hair colours that don’t require bleaching.
Note that not all hair salons are adept at handling ash greens without bleaching so head down to Artica Hair Studio and ask the professionals!
5. Brown on Brown
Clover Hair Boutique @ Far East Plaza
It’s no surprise that brown shades would make the list but most of the time brown hair colour is considered to be safe and boring. However, there are several ways to change it up and stand out from the crowd.
This 3D hair colour by AVENTA Hair salon certainly turns it up a notch with a unique technique that adds fluidity to the hairstyle.
Chez Vous Hair Salon @ Takashimaya Ngee Ann City
Chez Vous does it right by adding in babylights for an Ecaille hair colour. The lighter shade of brown definitely enhances the overall look with a subtle contrast that doesn’t look tacky at all.
COVO Japanese Hair Salon @ Keong Saik Rd
Branche Hair Salon @ City Hall Capitol Piazza
Light brown highlights added to brown hair can brighten up the entire look and give off a natural sun kissed vibe. Japanese salons tend be really good with blending lighter shades of brown with darker ones and if brown hair is what you are going for, you can try out Art-Noise Japanese Hair Salon at Holland Village.

6. Mix ‘n’ Match
Using more complex techniques, your hairstylist can mix and match colours and do some magic to make simple hair colours look really sophisticated, like this hand-pressed colour!
Colour blocking once a huge trend in fashion has resurfaced again, but this time in hair.
It’s a new technique brought to Singapore by Salon Vim that involves the placement of different colours to bring out specific facial features or parts of the hair. The mix and match of two contrasting colours is a must-try for those of you who are into experimenting with hair colours but don’t wish to bleach your hair.

Of course, you can always fall back to Ombre Brown and Red for a seamless gradation!
No matter which colour you choose, stylists at COVO Japanese Hair Salon say that you will get a more and more vivid result the more times you colour the same colour. The second time colouring Red for example will be brighter than the first and the third time brighter than the second. If you want to know which colour will give you a more vivid result, it may be best to check with the stylist to see which of the colours are strongest for your natural colour base – red, yellow or blue!
Do keep in mind that all coloured hair, whether bleached or not, tends to wash off over time, so remember to use colour shampoo to lengthen the lifespan of your hair colour especially for Reds, Greens and Purples!
